Frequently Asked Questions
How much will this cost?
We’ll have the discussion about that up front. You need to know, and so do we. Not just a letter, outlining an estimated fee, rather we’ll talk about cost with you right at the outset.
How will I pay?
We understand that paying our legal fees can be tough for some clients. We have a dedicated Client Manager who will assess your personal financial situation, and if you are able to meet our credit criteria we will work-out an agreed and affordable payment plan before we undertake any work.
Finding the time to meet with a lawyer is so difficult.
We understand that your time is valuable and that sitting in a lawyers office probably isn’t one of the ways you want to spend it.
Depending on the type of work you need us to do, we can look at different ways of connecting and communicating with you. Sometimes it might mean that we come onsite to your business if you’re too busy to get off site, or if Mum and Dad aren’t as mobile as they used to be, then we can visit them at their residence.
We’re also happy to start using the wonderful advances of technology. If you’re in Whangarei, or Hokitika, we can facilitate virtual meetings through the use of Skype business sessions. We’re investigating all sorts of technology that will help bring us together with our clients – only it needn’t be in the same room!
Sometimes I just want a 5 minute chat. I don’t even know if I need a lawyer.
Take a look at our online blog and chat forum. This is a great way to find out about issues that might be of relevance to your personal situation.
You can also connect with our lawyers via their email link on our website, tell them what’s happening, outline the issue as fully as you can, and they can then get in contact with you giving you an indicative cost for completing this type of work.
You can then make the decision as to whether you’d like to give instruction to act on the matter.
I’m intimidated by lawyers.
Sure we dress like lawyers – the judge wouldn’t be too impressed if we were to forgo the suit and tie! But we pride ourselves on having a team of legal professionals who are down-to-earth and approachable.
Let us know your needs in your own words. We don’t speak legalese when talking to our clients; we sit and listen, make sure we understand your situation, then take it from there.
Let us worry about the ‘legal’ side of things, that’s what we’re here for.
